Manchester City head coach, Pep Guardiola, has claimed that winning the  Champions League would pale in comparison to defending City's Premier League crown.

They sit only two points behind league leaders Liverpool in Premier League standings with a game in hand but have to overturn Tottenham's 1-0 first-leg advantage to move into Champions League semifinals.

"I know people say I came here to win the Champions League, but I didn’t come here to win the Champions League, honestly," Guardiola said on the eve of their second leg against Spurs, as quoted by ?Fox Sports.

I have to live with that but it is not a big, big problem."

It has been eight years since Guardiola's last Champions League title, but the former Barcelona coach has once again played down the importance of the trophy, claiming he hasn't come to City to win the Champions League.

Having already won the Carabao Cup and booked their place in the FA Cup final, defending Premier League champions are on course for an unprecedented quadruple.

"That is why I have said many times the Premier League, for me, is the most important title, showing every three days that you are there.
