Ilkay Gundogan believes Manchester City's squad depth has eased the issue of playing without Sergio Aguero.

We know how important Sergio is for us with the amount of goals he is scoring and of course we miss him when he’s not there, but we are lucky enough to have a great squad with great players who are able to replace him and that’s what’s most important.”

The club record scorer is also City's top scorer in all competitions this season but will not be available for the Premier League fixture against Chelsea on Saturday evening.

And while the 30-year-old will be a massive miss for City, Gundogan believes his side's incredible squad depth has quelled any concerns regarding his absence.

"As long as there is someone it really doesn’t matter.

"It doesn’t matter whether Gabriel replaces him [Aguero] or Raheem or Bernardo Silva who has also played in that role earlier in the season.

Aguero missed last weekend's win over Bournemouth with muscle fatigue and then picked up an abductor injury on Monday which ruled him out of the trip to Watford.
