Vincent Kompany is telling his Manchester City teammates to put their last title win out of their minds as they look to pip Liverpool in the Premier League.

City are seen as having the experience in the race given their entire squad have at least one league winner's medal while the Merseyside club have gone 29 years without winning the top flight.

The Blues know that the league is there if - and it is a considerable if - they win their final five games of what has been a pulsating race, but they know that any slip-up will give Liverpool the opportunity to snatch it from them.

In both of those years, City came from behind with a superb end to the season and the club captain believes that trust in their own ability can see them over the line this time.

But Kompany, who returned to the team for the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace, does not think last year's saunter to 100 points will do them any favours to linger on when instead they need to draw on the battles that saw them pip United and Liverpool respectively in 2012 and 2014.

Last season, the last title, is not the one we should refer to really.

It’s the other two where we had to win every game and we had five games to play, six to play," he said.
