Pep Guardiola used just four words when speaking to referee Michael Oliver after watching his Manchester City side go down to a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.

After the final whistle Guardiola went around to shake the hand of every Liverpool player before heading over to the officials.

He sarcastically went over to say: 'Thank you so much' to Oliver before heading off the field.

However, Guardiola was furious that a penalty wasn't given to his side moments before when Trent Alexander-Arnold handled the ball.

VAR reviewed the decision and decided it wasn't a penalty with Liverpool seeing out the game to move eight points clear at the top.

Guardiola was angry again after seeing another penalty waved away by Oliver as Raheem Sterling's ball again found Alexander-Arnold's hand.

The referee and VAR adjudged that is wasn't a penalty with the goal standing before Mo Salah added a second goal before the break.
