Court documents have laid bare the tensions between Manchester City and UEFA after the club and the governing body were involved in an angry exchange ahead of a court hearing.

City went to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to have UEFA's Club Financial Control Board's (CFCB) investigation into allegations of Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches published via Football Leaks in Der Spiegel thrown out.

City claimed that "UEFA has systematically breached, and continues to breach, its duty of confidence" and the investigation and decision "lacked procedural fairness and due process".

The club were furious that UEFA's chief financial investigator's recommendation for a one-season Champions League ban was leaked and launched legal action to have the investigation halted as a result.

"Again, the Panel is mindful not to trespass into the authority of the Adjudicatory Chamber to address MCFC’s procedural complaints in detail.

City also wanted damages from European football's governing body "for losses incurred as a result of the respondent’s conduct".

That story was published before UEFA announced that the case would go before the CFCB adjudicatory chamber, with the decision yet to be confirmed.
