Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany believes that his Belgium team-mate Eden Hazard is finally ready to thrive under a more 'attacking' manager in Maurizio Sarri.

Hazard has previously operated at Chelsea under more conservative coaches such as Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte but Kompany, whose City side travel to Stamford Bridge on Friday, insists that Hazard has been unleashed under Sarri.

Chelsea have stuttered over the past fortnight, losing against Tottenham and Wolves, but Kompany believes they remain one of the biggest threats to City.

Despite Hazard's goal drought, Kompany insists he couldn't be playing under a better manager

Hazard, meanwhile, has not scored in 11 games for club and country but Kompany insists he could not be playing under a better manager.

Kompany said: 'Chelsea are one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League this year. Look at the way they try and build up, the way they try and play through the middle. You can only say that they are the real deal.

'I think he was due an offensive manager. I can't remember him having that a lot in his career. Eventually a manager like this is what he needed, no matter where he was, to get the best out of him. The future is bright for him.'

The Man City captain said that 'the future is bright' for Hazard following Sarri's appointment

Kompany also believes that City have proved there is steel to accompany their silk after the team clung on to a lead amid a late bombardment from Watford in Tuesday's 2-1 victory at Vicarage Road.

He added: 'The last 15 was, for me, a show of character which I was really happy with. I think our team, we take it for granted sometimes that this team will perform well and score a lot of goals.

'But when you have to dig deep in the last 15 minutes in an away game... we will take so much more out of this one.'
