Manchester City have been banned from the Champions League for the next two seasons by UEFA for "serious breaches" of Financial Fair Play regulations.

It read: "The Adjudicatory Chamber, having considered all the evidence, has found that Manchester City Football Club committed serious breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations by overstating its sponsorship revenue in its accounts and in the break-even information submitted to UEFA between 2012 and 2016.

This week the details of a dispute between City and UEFA over the investigation emerged through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

City's decision to appeal to CAS before a punishment had been given was knocked back, although the leaks were described as "worrisome" in the report.

The bombshell revelation was handed out on Friday evening, barring the Blues from UEFA competitions for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns as well as handing out a fine of €30m.

"The Adjudicatory Chamber has also found that in breach of the regulations the Club failed to cooperate in the investigation of this case by the CFCB."

City issued an immediate response to the decision, saying they were "disappointed but not surprised".
