Two Manchester City stars have been nominated for the prestigious European Golden Boy award - including new signing Ferran Torres.

A shortlist of 40 names has been drawn up from the originally-announced longlist of 100 players, which was revealed in June.

The award honours the best young player under the age of 21 for the calendar year and was originally established by Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2003, with the winner determined by votes from 40 journalists across the continent.

Torres, who joined City this summer from Valencia, has been named on the shortlist along with new teammate Phil Foden.

The duo face competition from five other Premier League players alongside a range of stars across Europe.

Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood is included among the 40 names along with Wolves’ Fabio Silva.

Former City youngster Jadon Sancho has also made the final 40.
