Kylian Mbappe has been named the world's most valuable player at an eye-watering value of £224million, with the world's most expensive XI worth a staggering £1.429billion.

Mohamed Salah is second at a value of £195m and Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, at £184m, beats £148.7m-rated Lionel Messi into third place on the list.

The data was compiled by CIES Football Observatory, who have produced a list every year since 2013.

Mbappe, Salah and Sterling form a potent front three in the most expensive XI, with that trio alone worth £603m. 

They are backed up by a midfield of Bernardo Silva, the most valuable midfielder at £121.6m, £114.9m-rated Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho and wantaway Manchester United star Paul Pogba, who is valued at £111.1m.

Liverpool dominate the back four, with Andy Robertson (£78.4m), £99.6m-rated Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold - the most expensive defender at £115.6m - joined by Aymeric Laporte (£93.6m) of Manchester City.

That is the same back four that was named in the PFA Team of the Year - alongside Pogba, Bernardo and Sterling. 

Alisson, signed by Liverpool a year ago for £65m, is now worth £95.5m and takes his place in goal. 

The Premier League is heavily represented on the list, with 19 players in the top 30 currently playing in England.

Of those, six play for Premier League winners Manchester City and six for Champions League winners Liverpool.  

Manchester United have three representatives in Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.

Tottenham stars Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min also make the top 30.

Everton also have a name on the list in Richarlison, who they purchased for £44m from Watford a year ago and is now rated at a whopping £87.6m. 

England wonderkid Jadon Sancho completes the overall top five at £141.6m and, aged 19, is also the youngest in the top 30.

In contrast, 34-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, 20th overall, is the oldest on the list and also most valuable player over 33 at £104.94m.   

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, meanwhile, is the world's 17th most valuable player at £110.8m.

The algorithm used by CIES Football Observatory considers a large number of variables.

These include age, contract value, playing position, minutes, goals, international status, team results and more. 

The value of French starlet Mbappe may be of interest to Real Madrid, who maintain interest in signing him despite the PSG star insisting he will remain in Paris next season.
