Manchester City and Liverpool will resume their Premier League title rivalry next season - with the country's two best teams primed to face each other on November 9 and April 4.

Pep Guardiola's City pipped Liverpool to the title by a single point last season but Jurgen Klopp's side will be invigorated after winning the Champions League to become kings of Europe earlier this month.

The two title rivals meet at Anfield on November 9, before Liverpool go to the Etihad Stadium on April 4 - just seven games from the end of the season.

Last time around the big two drew 0-0 at Anfield - with Riyad Mahrez missing a penalty - before City took all three points at the Etihad Stadium with Leroy Sane firing in the winner after Roberto Firmino had cancelled out Sergio Aguero's opener.

Those four points proved decisive in the title race - and Klopp will be desperate to ensure the big results swing back his way to end Liverpool's 30-year domestic title drought.

Before the head-to-head meetings, Liverpool open up the season on a Friday night, at home against Norwich City, before games against Southampton, Arsenal, Burnley, Newcastle and Chelsea.

City have a more favourable opening run of fixtures - they start the season away at West Ham before facing Tottenham at home. That is followed by games against Bournemouth, Brighton, Norwich and Watford.

City won the title by a point last season, lifting the trophy after finishing on 98 points
