Phil Foden has hinted he could feature in Manchester City's Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

“I’m not the green-keeper, I never did that,” the City manager said.

Foden has played 91 minutes of Premier League football this season across eight appearances and sent a cryptic tweet on Friday which raised suggestions that he could feature against Wolves.

The 18-year-old has scored twice in his past two Blues appearances but was a surprise absentee from the starting XI against Burton in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg.

The Blues were 10 points adrift of Jurgen Klopp's side on December 30 after losing three Premier League games in four - a total that the previous 70 fixtures had amassed.

City have made a remarkable start to 2019 with 18 goals in three games, the first two of which came in the 2-1 defeat of Liverpool that set down a marker in the Premier League title race.

Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sané were on target against the Anfield outfit, but Liverpool supporters believed City had grown the grass at the Etihad to disrupt their game plan - something Pep Guardiola strenuously denied.
