Pep Guardiola has reiterated that Manchester City will not buy any players in the January transfer window despite being 11 points off league leaders Liverpool.

But despite City leaking goals and falling further behind Liverpool, after their draw against Newcastle on Saturday, Guardiola insists City will not strengthen in January because the players they would want are not available.

I don’t want any players in January," Guardiola replied when asked if City will buy anyone in the upcoming January transfer window.

You know the history we could not sign it," Guardiola explained.

Guardiola also explained the decision to sign Joao Cancelo, a full-back, over a central defender in the last transfer window.

The Blues' boss wanted a centre back in the summer and failure to land one has left City short at the back due to a long term injury to Aymeric Laporte.

We have to adapt and adjust with the players that we have and next season we will see."
