Pep Guardiola has been given assurances from Manchester City bosses that the club will not be banned from the Champions League.

City head into their final Champions League group game on Wednesday needing a point at home to Hoffenheim to confirm top spot in the group.

Guardiola won the competition twice with Barcelona but has been knocked out in the last-16 and the quarter-finals in his two attempts with City.

Guardiola suggested after the Watford game that he trusted the club as he welcomed the investigation.

UEFA insiders suggested this week that the Blues could be kicked out of the European competition from as early as next season, with president Aleksander Ceferin expecting answers soon on what he called a "concrete case".

They are currently three points ahead of Lyon, who travel to play Shakhtar Donetsk.

I trust in them.
