Manchester City fans will be confident of building up a serious head of steam before a potential season-defining November and early December.

Pep Guardiola's side open their title defence at West Ham on August 10 before hosting Tottenham Hotspur in their first game at the Etihad Stadium.

The fixture list will hold no fears for supporters until November, when they travel to Anfield to take on a Liverpool side who ran them so close in last year's title race.

They then tackle Chelsea (home) and Newcastle (away) before beginning December with a tricky trip to Burnley, a Manchester derby at the Etihad and an away game at Arsenal.

The second Manchester derby will be at Old Trafford on March 7, while Liverpool will visit the Etihad Stadium on April 4.

And the champions  have a favourable run-in from then on, closing out against Southampton (a), Newcastle (h), Brighton (a), Bournemouth (h), Watford (a) and hosting newly-promoted Norwich City on the final day.

Pep Guardiola is hoping to emulate Sir Alex Ferguson with a third-straight Premier League title

After back-to-back titles, Manchester City are bidding to emulate a feat only their bitter rivals United have done - by being crowned Premier League champions for a third-successive season.

City are on course to achieve the feat after clinching last season's title by one point from rivals Liverpool.

United have achieved three-straight Premier League titles twice. The first time came between the 1998-99 to 2000-01 seasons with the second hat-trick occurring during the 2006-07 to 2008-09 campaigns.

Guardiola will hope next season's title defence will be smoother than last term - when it looked like around Christmas that they may relinquish their crown.

However, after a difficult festive period they regrouped and scored at will - as emphasised by their +72 goal difference.
