?Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is set for a new one-year deal with the club, with all parties ready and willing for him to stay at the Etihad.

It also understood that regardless of the captain's contract, ?City will be looking to reinvest in their rearguard over the summer, with Ajax's highly touted Matthijs de Ligt a key target.

According to ?Goal, the club will reward the Belgian's loyalty with a new one-year deal at the end of this season, when his current contract is set to expire.

Since then, he has made 348 appearances for the Citizens, providing 19 goals and 11 assists, and collecting three Premier League titles, three League Cups and one FA Cup.

Kompany has been with City since the beggining of their ascent, joining in August 2008 from Hamburg in a deal worth €8.5m, just before Sheikh Mansour's takeover bid was actually confirmed on transfer deadline day of that year.

?Kompany is currently earning £120,000-a-week, but it is understood that he is willing to accept a pay cut to stay with the Sky Blues next season.

He has made just nine appearances in the ?Premier League this season, and hasn't played since the pivotal 2-1 victory over Liverpool at the start of January.
