Man City will still face Champions League tormentor vs Tottenham despite Son Heung-min ban

Manchester City will be relieved that chief Champions League tormentor Son Heung-min is not available for Tottenham on Saturday.

The City hierarchy felt the Spain star was more suited to their style – and with a total cost of £62.6million through his release clause, he was a little cheaper.

He was suspended for the final match of the season against Everton and their season opener against Aston Villa at the weekend.

But he will serve the last match of a three-match ban on Saturday after receiving a red card in the penultimate game of last season, against Bournemouth.

Son was also a constant menace when the two teams met again in the Premier League, just three days after the Blues’ 4-3 win had seen them crash out of Europe.

In fact, Tanguy Ndombele was so good, as City lost at home to Lyon and then twice came from behind to scramble a draw against them in France, that he was placed on their transfer short-list for the summer.

But with one European scourge out of the way, the Blues WILL be up against the man who inspired their other defeat in the competition last season.
