Man City ranked in top 10 biggest clubs in the world – how do they compare to rivals?

Manchester City are one of the ten biggest clubs in world football according to a list devised by France Football who ranked the 30 biggest clubs in 2019.

Ten categories were selected to establish these rankings, ranging from players (achievents, Ballon d’Or), supporters (affluence, social networks), revenues (income, shirt sales), expenses (transfers), numbers (market value, number of active world champions), and history.

Using this criteria, Real Madrid emerged as the world’s biggest club, followed by rivals Barcelona, with Manchester United in third place.

City fared well however, for a club that has risen on to the European stage more recently, finishing ninth, above historic giants such as Arsenal, AC Milan and Ajax.

The Blues were the fourth highest ranked English club behind Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

As always, these lists are totally subjective and many will disagree with the rankings, but France Football created a system that considered several things – not just past success – and this is how their top 30 looked:
