Manchester City were beaten 2-0 at Chelsea in the Premier League yesterday to fall to second in the table.

Goals from NGolo Kante and David Luiz were enough to beat a disappointing City side, who lined up without a recognised striker as Sergio Aguero was injured and Gabriel Jesus dropped to the bench.

After the game, Pep Guardiola said he was pleased with his side's performance despite the result, but Liverpool's win at Bournemouth earlier in the day meant City slipped to second in the table, a point behind Jurgen Klopp's side.

The City manager will be worried about midfielder David Silva after the Spaniard limped off in the second half with a possible hamstring injury.

City face Hoffenheim on Tuesday in the Champions League, before taking on Everton in the league next week.
