Foden in group of City players seen at training ground

Manchester City players have resumed training in small groups as the Premier League looks to move closer towards a return to action.

Phil Foden was among the players seen at the City Football Academy training ground on Friday.

The youngster, as well as his teammates, adhered to the strict social distancing measures in place.

Contact training is still prohibited and players can only train together in groups of five. Team meetings, meanwhile, will be held online.

There is not yet a set date for the return of the Premier League, but much is likely to depend on the testing of players and staff.

There were six positive tests from three clubs last week, but the MEN understands none of these were at City.

Mendy warns teammates against complacency in Champions League

Benjamin Mendy has insisted City cannot start thinking about the quarter-finals of the Champions League, despite their lead over Real Madrid in their last-16 tie.

Pep Guardiola’s side secured an impressive 2-1 win at the Bernabeu in February, and looked well-placed to progress into the next round.

But the second leg was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

It remains to be seen where and when the remainder of the Champions League will be played, but UEFA are determined to complete the tournament. And Mendy has urged his teammates to “stay focused”.

He said: “We had a good game in Madrid and now we still have to play the second leg. I know that in the minds of every player they know that just because we won there does not mean that it is finished or that we are qualified.

"It is not every day that you go to somewhere like the Bernabeu and perform like that in the Champions League. We have an opportunity to go far in this cup and we want it, so everybody wakes up, works out, stays focused on the target for when they say we can come back. We don’t have the Champions League yet so it is the dream.”

City to battle with four clubs for Barcelona right back - reports

City are reportedly among five clubs looking at signing Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo.

The Premier League champions have been linked with the Portugal international as a potential replacement for Joao Cancelo.

The latter was rumoured to be headed the other way in a three-way deal that would have seen Barcelona sign Cancelo and then use him in part-exchange for Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez.

But City are now, according to Mundo Deportivo, expected to be joined by Inter, Juventus, Bayern Munich and PSG in the race to sign Semedo.
