City push for Barcelona star - report

Manchester City have made Barcelona aware of their interest in signing midfielder and utility full-back Sergi Roberto, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.

Guardiola gave Roberto his debut at the Nou Camp and is a fan of the Spain international, but it is claimed that Roberto would be reluctant to leave the Barca even if the club were willing to listen to offers for him.

Shirt numbers Torres could wear

Valencia winger Ferran Torres is set to become one of City's first signings of the summer in a deal worth an initial £21 million.

The Spain Under-21 international will not be able to take the number 20 shirt – his current number at the Mestalla – at City though as it is already occupied by Bernardo Silva.

As outlined by the MEN, 15, 18, 19 and 21 are among the most prominent available numbers.

The 21 shirt is worn by outgoing City legend David Silva, who was also signed from Valencia, while 15 was synonymous with another right-winger from Spain: Jesus Navas.

The number 19 shirt was occupied by Leroy Sane prior to his move to Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

Opinion: Garcia should wait a year on his future

Manchester City defender Eric Garcia has a big decision to make on his future this summer.

Barcelona are keen to bring re-sign the young defender, three years after he left their La Masia youth system to join City.

However, our City reporter Simon Bajkowski says the Spanish defender’s best option now is to stick at City next season and then make a decision a year from now.

With the future of Pep Guardiola beyond next summer appearing unclear and with an equal lack of clarity at the Camp Nou, it is the path that makes the most sense.
