Manchester City have a buyback clause for Manu Garcia – but only if they want him in the next two years.

Gijon’s sporting director Miguel Torrecilla has revealed that City inserted a buyback clause in the contract which can only be activated within the next two years.

The midfielder made one Premier League appearance for the Blues , as a substitute against Aston Villa in 2016, and scored against Crystal Palace in a 5-1 League Cup win.

The 21-year-old signed for Spanish second division club Sporting Gijon for £3.5million in the summer after spending the previous three seasons on loan.

“I don't want to go into numbers, but we would be talking about one of the best deals in the history of Sporting.”

So far Garcia has started all ten games, scoring once, but Sporting are lying just three points off the relegation spots with just two wins, but he has been called into the Spain under-21 squad for fixtures against Germany and Montenegro.

Gijon made him the biggest transfer in their history by paying out £3.5million, with another £1.7million in possible add-ons.
