Liverpool fans are the supporters most in favour of Project Restart with 90 per cent backing the resumption of football in contrast to 80 per cent of Manchester City fans who oppose it, according to our new survey.

The Great Big Football Lockdown Survey had almost 15,000 responses from football fans across Premier League, Championship and EFL teams.

Supporters up and down the country were given the opportunity to express their views on issues facing the domestic game from Project Restart, how the season should be finished and what it means for their clubs.

A total of 14,161 users responded in the survey which saw contrasting views on how different supporters viewed the planned resumption of the Premier League and Championship later this month.

The Premier League season is set to resume on June 17 with the Championship also restarting on June 20. For Pep Guardiola’s City, that means seeing Liverpool take their Premier League crown with the Reds needing just six points to seal the title.

Of all respondents in the survey, 17 per cent was made up of Liverpool supporters who were clearly eager to see Project Restart go ahead whereas the majority of City fans who responded voiced their concerns over resuming matches.

In addition to the 90 per cent of fans who backed action restarting later this month, four per cent of Liverpool supporters agreed with the null and void option that would see them denied the Premier League title, despite sitting 25 points clear of City.

The announcement that Project Restart will go ahead later this month means that any chances of the season being completely discounted is highly unlikely. That news highly contrasts the views expressed by City fans who would prefer to see football suspended until after September.

Only nine per cent of City supporters agreed that football should return in June, 7 per cent said July, 15 per cent said August and 67 per cent said September or later.

Ahead of Project Restart, 95 per cent of City fans said they would support a player who refused to play due to concerns over safety.

In total, the Great Big Lockdown Survey included responses from nearly 15,000 supporters of clubs in the Premier League, Championship and EFL. The wide variety in responses highlights how supporters of different clubs vary in their opinions on a number of important topics.
