Leroy Sane Move to Bayern Munich 'Done' as Manchester City Exit Nears

Could the Leroy Sane transfer saga finally be over? Well, reports in Germany suggest the transfer 'is done'.

Sane was destined to make the switch to Bavaria last summer after being underused by Pep Guardiola in Manchester City's title-winning 2018/19 campaign, but the ACL tear he sustained in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool last August thwarted the move.

Bayern and City have continued to discuss a transfer, however, and with Sane eager to depart with just a year remaining on his contract, the Cityzens were keen to force through a switch this summer so he couldn't walk away for free at the end of his contractTrufollowing the expiration of his contract at the end of next season.

And after months of negotiations, it finally appears all parties have reached an agreement. Bild's Christian Falk revealed on Tuesday night that the deal is complete - according to information he's received of Pep Guardiola's entourage.

It's understood Sane will sign a five-year deal at Bayern until 2025, with the deal worth less than €50m up front - with €11m in add-ons.

The report also notes the German won't become Die Roten's highest earner following the move, with the player understanding the current difficult financial situation caused by COVID-19. Instead, he will earn well below the €20m-per-year salary that was a requirement a few months ago.

Despite returning to full fitness following his lengthy injury lay-off, Sane's imminent departure has seen Guardiola reluctant to use the 24-year-old since City's return to action.

A cameo appearance off the bench in the 5-0 rout over Burnley last Monday was Sane's first and only taste of first-team action since his return from injury.

Thus, with Guardiola's stance unlikely to change with his move now confirmed, Sane should be able to train with Bayern from August at the latest and not travel with City for the remainder of their Champions League campaign.
