Manchester City now know that they will play West Ham in their opening game of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

With the caveat that there is a long way to go before the manager must name his starting XI at West Ham, here's a look at some of the different options available to him: City held off a ferocious challenge from Liverpool last season to retain their title, setting the second-highest points tally in Premier League history in the process.

The fixtures have handed Pep Guardiola's side a trip to the London Stadium first up as the Blues look to win a third successive title.

City obviously want Rodri, although he may not need rushing into the team when Fernandinho still has plenty to offer especially as he should take longer than Harry Maguire to get used to the Premier League.

They are aiming for two first-team signings but that doesn't mean they will necessarily start on the first day.

Kyle Walker should hold off any challenge for his place on the opening day, while that front three is hard for any team to match.

Yet Stones would argue his worth over most new centre-backs, and it was after a win at West Ham that Sane and Jesus (with Raheem Sterling) were hailed as the club's future by Guardiola.
