Reported Manchester City transfer target Frenkie de Jong says he will not leave current club Ajax during the current winter transfer window.

Meanwhile, City's new goalkeeper signing Gavin Bazunu is reportedly set to join the club sooner than expected.

City have been strongly linked with De Jong, but Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be in the running for the £70m-rated midfielder.

They say Shamrock are resigned to letting that happen and he will miss the start of the Irish season next month.

City completed the signing of highly-rated Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Bazunu in October, with the intention of letting him remain in Ireland until he completed his studies.

But the  Irish Mirror  now report that City want the 16-year-old sooner and will allow him to fly home to Dublin regularly to finish his schooling.

The 21-year-old is one of the most sought-after players in Europe, and should City sign him he would be a long-term replacement for Fernandinho in midfield.
