Karl Toko Ekambi completes loan move to Lyon from Villarreal... paving the way for Moussa Dembele's return to the Premier LeagueKarl Toko Ekambi's loan move could trigger Moussa Dembele's departureThe Lyon striker has been linked with a return to the Premier League this monthChelsea, Man United, Man City, Newcastle and West Ham are all interested

Karl Toko Ekambi has completed his move to Lyon from Villarreal, which could have ramifications for Moussa Dembele.

Ekambi, a 27-year-old forward from Cameroon who has scored six La Liga goals this season, has signed on-loan until the end of the season.

However, the deal could trigger Dembele's departure from Lyon - the former Fulham striker has been linked with a return to the Premier League this month.

Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi (L) has joined Lyon on-loan for the remainder of the season

Ekambi's transfer could result in Moussa Dembele being sold to a Premier League club

Dembele has been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle United and West Ham, with scouts reportedly watching him in action just over a week ago against Bordeaux.

Premier League side Chelsea are also interested in bringing the 23-year-old back to west London.

Despite the wide-ranging interest in the striker, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has ruled out selling Dembele in January.

Speaking on RMC last week, he said: 'We have not changed our minds. We already made this issue clear in August.

Dembele played for Premier League club Fulham from 2012-2016 before moving to Celtic

'Moussa is an excellent player. A player who we need.

'We are taking explicit measures in our recruitment to not bring someone in who will compete for his position. It is not a question of money. Moussa will be with us.'

The Frenchman, who is yet to be capped for the senior national team, has scored 11 goals in 19 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
