Barcelona legend Xavi has dismissed suggestions that his managerial career could reach the heights of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Since, the City boss has added two Premier League trophies, two League Cups and the FA Cup to take his total tally to 27 trophies in just 626 matches.

However, speaking after the match Xavi batted away those suggestions, lavishing his former Barcelona boss with praise.

The Spanish midfielder was appointed as Qatari club Al Sadd's head coach in July after retiring from professional football earlier in the year.

Having spent the last four seasons with the club as a player, Xavi became the new man in the dugout over the summer and has enjoyed a very successful start to his coaching career.

Guardiola went on to win three Bundesliga titles and two DFB-Pokal cups with Bayern Munich before joining Manchester City three years ago.

Similarly, Guardiola has only finished outside of the top two once in the league, which came in his first season at the Etihad in the 2016/17 season.
